Building Women’s Influence in Electoral Reform
The Centre for Inclusive and Accountable Governance (CIAG) launched a three-day Advocacy and Influence Workshop designed to strengthen women’s participation in the review and reform of Somaliland’s Electoral Law.
The workshop brings together 20 selected women for focused capacity building on advocacy, policy engagement, and influence. The training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, confidence, and practical advocacy skills required to engage constructively in electoral policy processes and contribute to discussions around meaningful legal and institutional reform.
The initiative recognises that women’s participation in electoral reform is essential to ensuring that political and electoral systems reflect the experiences, priorities, and interests of all members of society. By strengthening women’s ability to understand policy processes and advocate for their perspectives, the workshop seeks to create greater opportunities for women to influence decisions that shape political participation and representation.
Through facilitated learning, discussion, and advocacy-focused engagement, CIAG is supporting women to take more active roles in policy dialogue and electoral reform processes.
The workshop reflects CIAG’s broader commitment to inclusive governance and meaningful women’s participation in decision-making. Strengthening women’s capacity to influence policy contributes to more responsive, representative, and inclusive electoral systems in Somaliland.
