Strengthening Inclusive Political Participation
The Centre for Inclusive and Accountable Governance (CIAG), together with the Center for Democracy & Governance (CDG) and Adems Academy, engaged with the leadership of the KULMIYE Party in Hargeisa to discuss opportunities for strengthening women’s political participation and the representation of marginalised groups in upcoming elections.
The meeting provided a platform for constructive dialogue between civil society organisations and political actors on the importance of inclusive political participation. Discussions focused on the need to create greater opportunities for women and marginalised communities to participate meaningfully in electoral and political processes.
The engagement reflected the importance of continued dialogue between political parties and civil society in promoting more inclusive and representative governance. It also provided an opportunity to encourage political actors to consider measures that can support greater participation and representation of underrepresented groups.
Through constructive engagement with political parties and other stakeholders, CIAG continues to advocate for inclusive and accountable governance and greater participation of women and marginalised communities in Somaliland’s political processes.
