Women’s Role in the New Government

The Centre for Inclusive and Accountable Governance (CIAG) organised a public dialogue titled “Doorka Haweenka iyo Dawladda Cusub” — The Role of Women and the New Government — to create space for discussion on women’s participation in Somaliland’s emerging political and governance landscape.

The discussion provided an opportunity to reflect on the position and contribution of women within government and decision-making structures. It brought attention to the importance of ensuring that women are meaningfully represented and able to contribute to decisions that shape the country’s political and institutional development.

The dialogue also encouraged participants to consider the opportunities and challenges facing women seeking greater participation in public leadership. By creating an open space for discussion and exchange of perspectives, CIAG sought to strengthen awareness around women’s leadership and the importance of inclusive governance.

The initiative forms part of CIAG’s broader commitment to promoting women’s participation in political and public life. Through dialogue, advocacy, and capacity building, CIAG continues to support efforts towards a more inclusive and accountable governance system in Somaliland.
