Strengthening Women Candidates’ Election Readiness

The Centre for Inclusive and Accountable Governance (CIAG) conducted an Election Readiness Workshop for women candidates in Hargeisa, focusing on strengthening their preparedness and capacity to participate effectively in the electoral process.

The workshop addressed key areas related to electoral participation, leadership, and candidate preparedness. It provided women candidates with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding of electoral processes and consider practical approaches to effective engagement throughout the electoral cycle.

An important component of the workshop was the involvement of experienced mentors with knowledge of political and electoral processes. Their engagement provided participants with an opportunity to learn from practical experience, exchange perspectives, and gain insights relevant to navigating the challenges associated with political participation.

Through this capacity-building initiative, CIAG sought to strengthen the confidence, knowledge, and preparedness of women candidates as they engage in electoral and political processes.

The workshop forms part of CIAG’s broader commitment to promoting women’s political participation, inclusive governance, and stronger representation of women in decision-making institutions in Somaliland.
