Strengthening Male Allyship for Women’s Political Inclusion

The Centre for Inclusive and Accountable Governance (CIAG) convened a forum in Burao focused on the role of men in supporting and promoting women’s meaningful participation in political leadership and decision-making.

The forum provided a platform to examine the importance of male allyship in advancing gender equality and creating more inclusive political institutions. Discussions highlighted how men can contribute to removing barriers to women’s participation, challenging exclusionary practices, and supporting greater representation of women in leadership spaces.

Participants explored the shared responsibility of women and men in building political environments where women can participate meaningfully and contribute to decision-making processes. The engagement also emphasised the importance of supportive networks and constructive collaboration in strengthening women’s access to leadership opportunities.

Through this initiative, CIAG continues to promote inclusive governance by engaging both women and men in efforts to advance gender equality, strengthen political participation, and support more representative leadership across Somaliland.
