Preparing Women Candidates for Effective Political Participation

The Centre for Inclusive and Accountable Governance (CIAG) conducted an Election Readiness Workshop for Women Candidates in Hargeisa, aimed at strengthening women’s preparedness to participate effectively in electoral and political processes.

The workshop focused on strengthening participants’ understanding of electoral processes, developing leadership skills, and enhancing their ability to engage effectively in the upcoming elections. By combining practical learning with experienced guidance, the initiative sought to equip women candidates with knowledge and confidence to navigate the demands of political participation.

The workshop also brought together mentors with experience in the field, providing participants with an opportunity to benefit from practical insights, guidance, and perspectives on electoral engagement and political leadership.

Through this initiative, CIAG continues to support women seeking to participate in political leadership and contribute to more inclusive governance in Somaliland. Strengthening the knowledge, confidence, and preparedness of women candidates is an important step towards increasing women’s meaningful participation and representation in political decision-making.
